You built a website, you type your business name into Google, and it is nowhere. Frustrating, and more common than you would think. "Not showing up" is almost always one of a handful of fixable problems. Work through them in order.
First, find out if you are indexed at all
Search site:yourdomain.com on Google. If your pages appear, you are indexed and this is a ranking problem, skip to the second half. If nothing appears, Google has not indexed you yet, and that is a discovery problem. The two need different fixes, so start here.
1. Your domain is brand new
A new site is not in Google's index the moment it goes live. Google has to find it, crawl it, and decide it is worth storing. This can take days to weeks. The fix is to give it a push: create a Google Search Console account, submit your sitemap, and use the URL Inspection tool to request indexing for your most important pages.
2. A page is accidentally blocked
Two settings silently hide pages from Google: a noindex tag on the page, and a robots.txt rule that disallows crawling. Many website builders ship with a "discourage search engines" box that gets left ticked. In Search Console, inspect the URL, it will tell you plainly if the page is blocked.
3. No sitemap, weak internal links
Google discovers pages by following links. If a page is an island with nothing linking to it and it is not in your sitemap, it may never be found. Make sure you have a sitemap submitted, and that every important page is linked from your navigation or another page.

If site: shows your pages but a search for your service does not, you are indexed and simply not ranking yet. On a young domain this is normal. 5. You are targeting keywords that are too hard
A new plumber will not rank for "plumber" on day one. You rank first for specific, lower-competition terms, "emergency plumber in Dwarka Sector 12", then build up. This is the heart of local SEO for small businesses: win your neighbourhood before you fight the country.
6. Your Google Business Profile is missing
For a local business, the map pack often matters more than the blue links. If you have no Google Business Profile, or it is unverified, you are invisible for "near me" searches even if your website is perfect.
7. The page just is not useful enough

How do I check if my website is on Google?

How long does it take for a new website to show on Google?
A brand new domain can take a few days to several weeks to be indexed, and longer to rank. Google has to discover, crawl and evaluate your pages. Submitting a sitemap in Search Console and requesting indexing for key pages speeds up discovery.
Why is my website indexed but not ranking?
Being indexed means Google knows your page exists. Ranking means it decides your page deserves to be near the top for a query. If you are indexed but invisible, the usual causes are thin content, high competition for your target keyword, and a lack of authority or backlinks.
Can Google Search Console fix indexing problems?
Search Console does not fix issues by itself, but it tells you exactly what is wrong: which pages are excluded, whether a page is blocked by robots.txt or a noindex tag, and it lets you request indexing. It is the first place to look when a site is not showing.
